These alligators are extremely rare and there are only twelve in the entire world! They are often mistaken for albino, but this isn’t the case.

Their proper name is leucistic because they still have some pigmentation in their tail and mouth. Four are housed at the Gatorland theme park in Florida, and weigh up to 500 pounds!

The alligators are white because of a rare genetic mutation that reduces their skin pigmentation. As majestic as these animals are, they would never survive in the wild because of how vulnerable their condition makes them.
